About Redesdale

Bellingham is a highly significant town at the joining of the North Tyne and Rede rivers. A gateway town, Bellingham is the gateway to the delights of the North Tyne and Redesdale while remining within a short distance to Hadrians Wall, Kielder and the scottish borders.

In all, Bellingham and it's surrounding area has everything that a visitor could ask for.

Equally it is only 25 minutes from the market town of Hexham and only a few more minutes will find the City of Newcastle with it's outstanding heritage (see our Heritage Centre), architecture and of course it's shops.

To the south east also lies the massive Gateshead Metrocentre, probably the largers shopping facility in europe.

Locally, the fabulous Hareshaw Linn walk and waterfall is a short walk from the town cerntre and the historical Church of St Cuthberts (and St Cuthberts Well), the only stone roofed church in England with it's history steeped in border reiver country.

Marvel at the story and grave of the "Lang Pack" or simply enjoy the tranquilty and grace of the North Tyne, the best salmon river in england.

Bellingham Main street
The town of Bellingham provides many of the services required to maintain the North Tyne and Redesdale area, With two banks, a Co-op, post office and a chemist, supported by many other produce, gift and outdoor supplies outlets, it provides the infrastructure for the area.

Bellingham has it's own Schools, Police Station, Fire Station and Ambulance depot.
